A juvenile from Delcambre passed away from injuries he sustained in a vehicle crash last Friday.

Charles Reed, 17, died in Lafayette General Hospital on March 5 after sustaining severe injuries as a result of the crash.

On March 2, Reed was involved in single vehicle crash that occurred on Jefferson Island Rd. near Norris Rd.

LSP investigated and found that around 2:30 p.m a Trooper tried to stop a 2001 Saturn SC2 for a traffic violation but Reed did not stop.

According to M/T Brooks David of the Louisiana State Police, Reed failed to negotiate a curve and his vehicle traveled off the left side of the roadway and struck an embankment.

LSP said Reed was not wearing a seatbelt and received serious injuries as a result of the crash.

There were two properly restrained teenage passengers in the Saturn SC2 and they sustained moderate to severe injuries.

The passengers were also transported to Lafayette General Hospital.

The crash remains under investigation and further information will be provided when it becomes available.
