Juvenile escapees used shank to overpower guards, affidavit says

BATON ROUGE, La (BRPROUD) — The Baton Rouge Police Department (BRPD) released additional details regarding the escape of five juvenile inmates.

According to an affidavit, 18-year-old Jason Pough and four others attacked three correctional detention center employees with a shank on Oct. 14. The juveniles overpowered the guards before stealing facility building keys. Police documents state that the juveniles also took vehicle keys from one of the guards and stole their vehicle to flee.

One of the guards injured was taken to a local hospital with a concussion.

Pough faces charges of aggravated escape, armed robbery, battery of a correctional facility employee and theft of a motor vehicle.

Four out of the five escapees have been captured. 18-year-old Malik Williams is still on the loose.
