LABADIEVILLE, La. (BRPROUD) – The Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office was recently asked to investigate a domestic complaint on Highway 1012.

The ensuing investigation ended with the arrest of Larry Gilmore Blanchard, Jr., 47, of Napoleonville.

“Deputies were dispatched to the location and had prior notice from the complainant that her estranged husband had left the residence,” according to the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Before arriving at the home mentioned above, deputies observed a vehicle they believed contained the suspect in this case.

A traffic stop was initiated and deputies questioned the driver.

The driver of the vehicle was Larry Gilmore Blanchard, Jr. and “deputies noted the driver to be displaying behavior consistent with illegal drug activity,” according to the Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Blanchard, Jr. was detained by deputies and a K-9 was brought in to check for any narcotics.

APSO said the K-9 detected narcotics while performing “an open-air sniff of the suspect vehicle.”

The deputies then looked through the vehicle and uncovered the items listed below:

  • Marijuana
  • Drug paraphernalia
  • U.S. currency

Blanchard, Jr. was arrested and charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Improper Display of License Plate.
