BATON ROUGE, La (BRPROUD) — It is almost time for kids to head back to school and to get them off on the right foot, The Safety Place, Healthy Blue, The BRidge Agency, and Baton Rouge Police Department are teaming up for a back-to-school drive.
Starting on Friday, July 23, from noon to 3 PM, the four agencies will hand out 600 free school supplies. The Greater Baton Rouge Food Bank will provide 600 fresh produce boxes, and Cortana Kiwanis of Baton Rouge will serve hot Jambalaya.
Attendees are asked to remain in their vehicles, stay at home if they feel unwell, and wear masks if they are not vaccinated. The children do not have to be present for the event, but kits will be limited to two per vehicle if they are not there.
