PORT ALLEN, La. (BRPROUD) — Travelers on LA-1 South should expect temporary road closures due to heavy equipment transport on Saturday. Residents in the area will experience utility outages, according to West Baton Rouge Parish officials.

On Dec. 4, rolling roadblocks will be placed on LA-1 S and the West Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office and Louisiana State Police will lead the convoy from Northline Road in Port Allen to the Dow Operations plant in Plaquemine.

Road closures will take place as the convoy travels from Northline Road to LA-1 S between 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. Traffic will be rerouted as needed, according to parish officials.

Officials said utility outages such as phone, internet and cable will be disconnected to accommodate the height of the equipment being moved. Utilities will be restored as the convoy passes. Outages may last from one to three hours.
