AMITE, La. (BRPROUD) – An Independence man was sentenced to 90 years behind bars for multiple drug-related charges on Monday, Feb. 27.
Montry Trevll Paige, 30, originally pled guilty to illegal use of weapons, a crime of violence with controlled dangerous substances, distribution or possession with the intent to distribute heroin and possession of a firearm or carrying a concealed weapon by a felon on Nov. 16, according to an official release from the 21st Judicial District Attorney’s Office.
Paige was ordered to stay at home with an ankle monitor but reportedly took the monitor off and did not show up for his Nov. 19 sentencing. The district attorney’s office says the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office found him in Texas in February. They arrested him on multiple warrants including jumping bail on a felony case and second-degree murder.
He was taken to jail and will serve 90 years with the Department of Corrections.
