LA State Police ask for public’s help after Crowley man dies during pursuit

Jason Vidrine, 44, died on June 29 after crashing his motorcycle into a sport-utility vehicle in Denham Springs, according to Louisiana State Police.

The incident took place at LA Hwy 1026 (Lockhart Rd.) west of LA Hwy 1030 (Cockerham Rd.) shortly after midnight.

Police said the initial investigation revealed that two motorcycles were speeding on LA Hwy 64 near LA Hwy 1019. An on-duty trooper attempted to make a traffic stop, however the two riders fled eastbound on LA Hwy 64.

The motorcyclists crossed LA Hwy 16 and entered a roundabout on LA Hwy 1026 at LA Hwy 1030. An unknown motorcyclist fled north on Linder Rd.

Vidrine circled the roundabout and returned westboung on LA Hwy 1026. Vidrine crossed the centerline and struck an eastbound 2016 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by an on-duty Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office deputy.

Vidrine died of his injuries at the scene of the crash, according to police.

Troopers are asking for the public’s help identifying the second motorcyclist. Anyone with information is urged to call Louisiana State Police Troop A at (225) 754-8500.
