BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — A popular restaurant right over the bridge is sharing how people are enjoying all the southern food inside cool AC amid a statewide burn ban.

“People have got heat fatigue right now. We are so sick and tired of being hot,” Paul A. Mladenka, Owner of Cou-Yon’s & Cork’s said.

Mladenka said Labor Day is all about showing up for people.

“It’s just so much easier coming to a reputable restaurant to soak up some of this cool air and not have to get out in the heat and cook it yourself,” Mladenka said.

Cou-Yon’s has some of the best food in the 225 area. It’s a hotspot to get the best BBQ, seafood, and loaded shrimp potatoes. Customers said it’s nothing but exceptional quality.

“I come here for the ribs primarily,” Chris Wilson, a customer said.

“It’s really good service. Never have any problems,” Marlon Marshall, a customer said.

The food joint has been making its mark in the area for 14 years now.

“A lot of happy customers out there guys,” Mladenka said.

The statewide burn ban is still in effect. Authorities said grilling outdoors is prohibited and there is no exception to the ban.
