BATON ROUGE, La (BRPROUD) ––– Carnival season officially began on Jan. 6 and Gambino’s Bakery in Baton Rouge is no stranger to preparing the festive desserts.
Each year the Baton Rouge location hand makes thousands of king cakes that they ship worldwide. Gambino’s offers king cakes year-round despite the official king cake season not starting until January. Assistant manager Tammy Wilson says getting ready for the season is “just making sure that we have enough supplies, enough employees that are going to be here, and that we’re just ready to roll them.”
Last year the COVID-19 pandemic canceled Mardi Gras, but king cakes were still flying off the shelves, and they expect no different this year.
Picking up is not the only way to order. The team also packages the king cakes with the icing separate so your king cake stays fresh longer, and you get to have a fun time decorating it yourself.
Gambino’s is located at 8646 Goodwood Blvd, Baton Rouge, LA 70806, or you can order online here.
