VACHERIE, La. (BRPROUD) — A LaPlace man faces multiple charges after allegedly stealing crawfish from a pond Saturday night.
The St. James Parish Sheriff’s Office said Lance Rodrigue, 40, of LaPlace was found stealing crawfish alongside LA 3127 Saturday, April 16 at 11:39 p.m. The pond’s owner allegedly contacted the sheriff’s office the night before about thefts. An investigation by the sheriff’s office found that Rodrigue had filled three sacks of crawfish.
Rodrigue was arrested and booked into St. James Parish Jail on charges of theft of livestock, criminal trespassing, taking fish without a commercial license and commercial gear license required. His bond was set at $25,000.
The sheriff’s office says the theft of livestock includes crawfish and is punishable by up to $5,000 in fines and up to 10 years in prison.
