Lawsuit claims EBR Schools ignored bullying complaints, attorney asks judge to make ruling after district fail to respond

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – Three families are now suing the East Baton Rouge Parish School System, claiming the district failed to protect their children after being alerted to constant bullying.

Two students were beaten on camera and a third student, Traeh Thyseen took his own life.

Thyseen’s family was the first to file suit in 2019.

The family said they filed multiple complaints with school leaders, but those concerns were ignored.

Attorney Ryan Thompson said, he moved to have the court rule in their favor after the school district failed to respond.

“This isn’t about money, this is about holding the school district accountable and if kids are being bullied then that’s not going to happen, right. We end up with the ultimate result which we don’t want for any kid or family,” said Thompson.

The suit is seeking more than two-million-dollars in damages.
