BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – With Hurricane Delta in the Gulf of Mexico, districts are making decisions to cancel classes.
Here is the list of school closures:
Ascension Parish Public Schools:
Schools closed for in person and virtual learning on Friday, October 9.
Friday’s closure does not impact the planned Fall Break on Oct. 12-13. Schools will reopen, as scheduled, on Wednesday, Oct. 14.
Assumption Parish Schools:
St. Elizabeth School will be closed on Thursday, October 8 and Friday, October 9, 2020. Assumption parish public schools will dismiss at half day on Thursday, October 8, 2020 and will be closed on Friday, October 9, 2020 (see their page for specific bell time info).
Baton Rouge Community College:
Due to anticipated weather conditions related to Hurricane Delta, Baton Rouge Community College (BRCC) announced that all employees will telecommute tomorrow, October 8. All college sites will be closed on Friday, October 9, including remote work.
BRCC students will be observing Fall Break and no classes are scheduled to be held October 8 – 9.
The BRCC educational sites include: Mid City Campus, Acadian Site, Ardendale Site, Central Site, Frazier Site, Jackson Site, New Roads Site, and Port Allen Site.
Baton Rouge Community College officials will continue to closely monitor the latest forecast and weather conditions related to Hurricane Delta.
All BRCC students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to monitor their college-wide email, the college’s website, social media sites, and local media sources for the latest updates and announcements made related to the weather conditions.
Students, faculty, and staff are also urged to adhere to city- and state-wide recommendations concerning the weather and safety precautions.
Baton Rouge International School:
Baton Rouge International School will be closed tomorrow, Friday October 9, due to the possible impacts of Hurricane Delta. This closure includes the suspension of both on-campus and virtual instruction.
Catholic High School:
Catholic High School will be closed Friday, October 9, due to the possible impacts of Hurricane Delta on the Baton Rouge-area.
City of Baker School System:
Diocesan Catholic Schools:
Catholic schools in the Diocese of Baton Rouge are cooperating with civil parishes in determining school closures. This list will be updated when information is made available. Please visit https://www.csobr.org/ for updated information. Many thanks and be safe.
East Baton Rouge Parish Schools:
Based on the latest weather forecasts and guidance from state and local agencies, the East Baton Rouge Parish School System will hold a 100% virtual school day on Friday, October 9, 2020.
Sttendance will be checked, and all virtual class schedules will be followed. Students will be allowed to make up any missed work if they are unable to participle in virtual learning due to weather impact.
School buildings will not be open to employees nor to the public. Events scheduled for Thursday night may continue as planned. Friday’s child nutrition services are also cancelled.
The district is still actively monitoring the storm and updates will be provided if the situation changes.
EBRPSS is scheduled to be on fall break on Monday, October 12th and Tuesday, October 13th. Facilities will remain closed during this time.
East Feliciana Public Schools:
Facility Closure and Distance Learning Protocol AnnouncementDue to the threat of severe weather related to Hurricane Delta, all East Feliciana Public Schools facilities will be closed on Friday, October 9, 2020. Live virtual lessons and office hours will not occur on Friday. Please visit or see below to review our distance learning protocol for Friday.
Iberville Parish Schools:
Due to the anticipated impacts from Hurricane Delta, the Iberville Parish School District will have a virtual/remote learning day tomorrow, Friday, October 9th. Students and staff will not report to schools or district offices tomorrow. Each school will provide remote and/virtual assignments for students. We will continue to monitor the impacts of the storm and communicate any further decisions that are made. Please take all necessary storm precautions and stay safe. We hope to see everyone soon.
Lafourche Parish School District:
All schools and offices of the Lafourche Parish School Board will be closed tomorrow, Friday, October 9, 2020, in order to prepare for any potential effects of Hurricane Delta. All in-person and virtual school operations, and all after school activities are cancelled as well. Please be reminded that Fall Break is Monday, October 12th and Tuesday, October 13th is a Professional Development day for teachers and staff. Please stay safe.
Livingston Parish Schools:
Superintendent Joe Murphy announced that Livingston Parish Public Schools will not be in session tomorrow (Friday, Oct. 9) due to a planned traditional holiday that was approved by the board during the summer as part of the 2020-2021 schoolyear calendar.
Louisiana College continues its preparations for Hurricane Delta. Please note the following
regarding course instruction and campus operations.
• No in-person courses will be held on campus from Thursday at 11 a.m. through Friday.
• Course instruction will continue remotely after noon on Thursday. Students will be
notified about when to return to campus. All activities scheduled for Thursday and
Friday evenings will be rescheduled.
• Residential students are encouraged to leave campus by noon Thursday. Residence Life
will email residents a form to complete documenting plans to remain on campus or
evacuate. Campus dining will continue to provide meals.
• All Louisiana College offices will remain open Thursday. A decision regarding Friday’s
schedule will be made Thursday. Faculty may teach their classes online from campus or
Dear LSU Community,
LSU will be closed on Friday, Oct. 9, due to Hurricane Delta. All classes and activities scheduled for Friday – whether in-person or virtual – are cancelled. This closure includes the University Laboratory School, the LSU Early Childhood Education Laboratory Preschool, and all on-campus COVID-19 testing locations.

LSU residence halls, on-campus apartments and dining halls will remain open. Please check dineoncampus.com/lsu for updates regarding dining hall hours. Students who live on campus should shelter in place during the storm by remaining indoors and keeping in contact with Residential Life staff for any instructions.
Essential employees should check with their supervisors about whether to report to work on Friday. Non-essential employees should not report to campus and are not expected to work on Friday, even if they are still working remotely due to COVID-19, because of the potential for severe weather and power outages. Faculty members should not attempt to hold remote classes on Friday for the same reasons. The Office of Human Resource Management will send instructions for time entry for the weather-related closure to all timekeepers in a follow-up email.
Faculty who rely on refrigeration or have specific power needs related to their research should consider the potential for a power outage and contact the LSU Emergency Operations Center at LSUEOC@lsu.edu if they have concerns or need assistance.

Parkview Baptist School and Parkview Preschool:
Parkview Baptist School and Parkview Preschool will be closed on Friday, October 9. High School learning will take place virtually. No on-campus activities will take place during this time.
River Parishes Community College:
Due to the potential impacts of Hurricane Delta, all River Parishes Community College Campuses will be closed on Friday, October 9th. Additionally, on-line and hybrid classes will not be held. We wish all of our students, faculty, and staff remain safe.

Due to anticipated severe weather associated with Hurricane Delta, all St. John the Baptist Parish Public Schools will be closed Friday, Oct. 9.
St. Joseph’s Academy:
St. Joseph’s Academy will be closed on Friday, October 9.
St. Tammany Parish Public School System:
Due to Hurricane Delta, on Thursday, October 8, Southern University’s Baton Rouge campuses will transition to 100 percent virtual online learning beginning at noon. On Friday, October 9, the campuses will be closed. This includes Southern University and A&M College, Southern University Law Center, and Southern University Agricultural Research and Extension Center.
Preparations have been made for on-campus residential students to shelter in place. If students currently residing on campus can return to their homes, they are encouraged to do so while it is safe.
Employees should begin taking the necessary precautions to ensure storm preparedness.
COVID-19 testing at the F.G. Clark Activity Center will be suspended on Friday.
Tangipahoa Parish School System:
The Dunham School:
Due to the updated track of Hurricane Delta and the predicted intensification of the storm, The Dunham School will be closed on Friday, October 9. Due to the expected power outages, we will not run E-School.
Also, ACT testing scheduled for Saturday has been cancelled. We are working to find a possible reschedule date.

West Feliciana Parish Schools:
All West Feliciana Parish Schools will be closed Friday, October 9, because of Hurricane Delta. All employees and students will work from home for the half day. Students will be given assignments to complete to avoid a loss of instruction. Also, as a reminder, fall break is Monday and Tuesday for students.
