BATON ROUGE, La (BRPROUD)- Ochsner Health held a briefing Tuesday to discuss the omicron variant, COVID-19 boosters, when to seek COVID-19 testing, and how to respond to a positive test.
- Dawn Pevey-Mauk – CEO, System Centers of Excellence & Service Lines, Ochsner Health
- Dr. Katherine Baumgarten – Medical Director, Infection Control and Prevention, Ochsner Health
Dr. Baumgarten encourages people to get vaccinated against COVID-19 and receive their boosters. She said people should not wait until after the holidays to get their boosters.
Ahead of holiday celebrations, Ochsner health officials said people should avoid gatherings if they are feeling ill and wear face masks.
As for testing, at-home testing is encouraged by Ochsner. Pevey-Mauk said anyone with mild symptoms should take ibuprofen, over-the-counter medications and drink plenty of fluids.
