Livingston alcohol vote clears way for business growth

Local News

In an effort to bring more business to Livingston Parish, voters approved proposals to loosen their current liquor laws. Stores in the towns of Livingston and Albany will soon be able to sell liquor in addition to wine and beer.
Supporters of the measure complained that the strict rules hurt the prospect of bringing in new businesses, especially restaurants that rely heavily on the sale of alcoholic beverages. The movement to loosen liquor laws may have received a boost when Denham Springs Council members approved an ordinance earlier this year paving the way for Le Chien Brewing Company.
