WALKER, La. (BRPROUD) – The Livingston Parish Fire Protection District 4 announced Friday that their chief has died.

Chief Paul Vogt died in his home in Walker on Thursday, Oct. 20, according to the fire district.

It is with great sadness that we have to announce the passing of District Chief Paul Vogt. Chief Vogt passed away yesterday, October 20, 2022, at his home here in Walker.

Paul was more than just a Chief at District 4. Over the last 20 years, he was a true friend to all of us. He was there for anyone who needed his assistance and was a tremendous force in all our lives. His infectious laugh and way with words could brighten even our darkest days. Paul was known for always taking care of the firefighters. Sometimes that meant receiving a dose of his “tough love,” always with the best of intentions. Paul can never be replaced, nor will he ever be forgotten.

We want to thank everyone for the posts, calls, and texts; they are greatly appreciated. Please keep Paul’s family, friends, and our department in your prayers as this is truly a monumental loss for us all. There will be a memorial service at a later date. We will let everyone know the details once they are finalized.
