LIVINGSTON PARISH, La. (BRPROUD) — Superintendent Joe Murphy has announced small changes made to the Livingston Parish Schools calendar due to Ida.
Murphy said Sept. 22 will be rescheduled as a class day to make up for missed time.
“Right now, we are not taking away any scheduled school holidays or adding any days to our existing schedule, other than the Sept. 22 day. We may have to make adjustments later in the year, or we may see time added to some schools to assist them in making up class time missed, but we are not at that decision point yet,” Murphy said.
School officials said the “Fair Day” holiday planned for Friday, Oct. 8 will remain despite the cancellation of the Livingston Parish Fair due to storm damage.
Additionally, interim grade reports will be delivered at a later time than originally scheduled.
“We just have to see how the parish’s recovery continues to progress and if any other issues arise,” he said. “We want to be sure that our students receive what they need, but without creating added hardships on our families.”
Murphy reports that the majority of schools in the district have reopened after the storm, however, the Maurepas School will be remain closed after Wednesday, Sept. 15.
