Three deputies graduate from CARTA
Three Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies graduated recently from the Capital Area Regional Training Academy.
The academy in Baton Rouge focuses on police and legal principles and is required by many departments to be employed as an officer or deputy.

It’s been nearly eight months since Denham Springs senior quarterback Luke Lunsford last threw a meaningful pass.
Lunsford had thrown for 276 yards and three touchdowns in a memorable performance, leading the Yellow Jackets to the brink of an upset of state powerhouse Acadiana before falling 38-37 in a state regional thriller.
The outing capped a junior season – his first as a varsity starter – in which Lunsford surpassed the school’s single-season record for yardage (2,753) and touchdowns (27).
BOYS BASKETBALL | Doyle’s Jones makes Tigers program proud by signing with Belhaven University
After having made his way from the school’s library Wednesday afternoon where he had signed a college basketball scholarship with Belhaven University, Doyle High’s Cameron Jones gained some perspective on the occasion.
Prior to his signing Jones was informed that Jarred Burgess was the last school’s last basketball scholarship signee with Mobile (Ala.) College – in 2002.

Local high schoolers score top-10 finishes in National Senior Beta Convention
Five high schoolers from Livingston Parish earned top-10 finishes during the 2019 National Senior Beta Club Convention held recently in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Ava Borskey of Maurepas High, Abby Howell of Albany High, Carli Jones of Holden High, and Brooklynn Reeves and Gavin Hughes of French Settlement High each finished in the top 10 of their respective categories during the nationwide contest that ran June 19-22 in the Cox Convention Center.
