DENHAM SPRINGS, La. (BRPROUD) — If you pass by where the original Carter’s Supermarket, 9285 Cockerham Road used to be, it looks a little different now. Basics Paintball has taken over that spot and is bringing family fun to Livingston Parish. It is there that you can try Gellyball, low impact paintball, and medium impact paintball. The games are played in an arena that is around 7000 square feet.
Jonathan Cambre is the CEO of Basics Paintball and he provided details about each of those games including who can participate and what is available to players.
Gellyball: “Suitable for children ages six and up and only available for groups of 10 or more. We provide players with protective masks and gel blasters. We will cycle them on and off of the field through a variety of games. The customer decides what package they want based on the number of games they would like to play. We provide unlimited ammo for each Gellyball game.”
Low Impact Paintball: “Suitable for children age seven and up and is only available for groups of 10 or more. For the basic bronze package, we provide the safety mask, paintball gun, and 300 paintballs. The equipment is geared towards smaller players specifically designed to use smaller paintballs and shoot at lower velocity. The customer can customize the package to include more paintballs and additional protective equipment such as vests, gloves, and camo coveralls. We cycle players on and off the field through a variety of games until they have used up their supply of paintballs. Additional paintballs are also available for an additional charge.”
Medium Impact Paintball: “Suitable for children age nine and up and is only available for groups and walk on players. For the basic bronze package, we provide the safety mask, paintball gun, and 300 paintballs. The equipment designed to use smaller paintballs and shoot at lower velocity than a standard paintball gun, but still provide that authentic paintball experience. The customer can customize the package to include more paintballs and additional protective equipment such as vests, gloves, and camo coveralls. We cycle players on and off the field through a variety of games until they have used up their supply of paintballs. Additional paintballs are also available for an additional charge.”
The inside of the building has been changed in a way to make it suitable for paintball. What can guests expect when they walk in the door?
Cambre said when you walk in you will see the playing area and “the lobby is complete with lots of tables to accommodate groups and individuals.”

Fans of Basics Paintball may know that they had an outdoor location for seven years. Cambre said the weather provided challenges and “moving indoors will allow us to offer a more consistent product.”
They will be open on Friday’s from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Saturday’s from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m., and Sunday’s from 1:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. According to Cambre, they “are also open by reservation only throughout the week and during off hours.”
Anybody who stops by will have to rent and use equipment provided by Basics Paintball. The CEO said they use smaller paintballs than some players may be used to.
There are plans in the works to add axe throwing in the near future for adults. Cambre said it “will feature interactive projected targets.”
The CEO said they can also host group events, birthday parties, corporate groups and field trips. If you are interested in trying out Basics Paintball, you can book online or call 225-678-4366.
