LIVINGSTON PARISH, La. (BRPROUD) – Amanda Jones, the Livingston Parish school librarian who sparked controversy at a Livingston Parish Library Board meeting over censorship, has filed the first legal brief for her appeal in the Louisiana First Circuit Court of Appeals.

Jones came under fire after speaking out against censoring sex education, gender, dating and LGBTQ+ topics in children’s books at the library. Soon after, Jones filed a defamation case against two men who she said made several negative posts about her online. The case was thrown out by a judge.

“On behalf of myself, and others who are unable to stand up for themselves, I am proud to announce that we have officially filed the first legal brief for my appeal in the Louisiana First Circuit Court of Appeal. Should we not prevail on appeal, we will be appealing to the Louisiana Supreme Court,” Jones said in a statement issued online.

Jones said she only requests a public apology and $1 in damages.
