Livingston Parish canceled its burn ban just five days after Ascension Parish announced on Thursday, Oct. 12 that they would be lifting their parish-wide burn ban.
The statewide burn ban continues to remain in place, but on Friday, Sept. 29, the Louisiana State Fire Marshal made modifications to the statewide burn ban.
The changes allow for individual parishes across the state to opt out of the burn ban. The status of the burn ban continues to be discussed weekly.
