LIVINGSTON PARISH, La. (BRPROUD) — A Livingston Parish man who was found guilty of rape and other sex crimes charges over the summer was sentenced to life in prison Tuesday.

The Livingston Parish Clerk of Court confirmed that John Mack, 77, was sentenced to life after being found guilty of rape.

Mack was arrested and charged with first-degree rape and sexual battery in the fall of 2021 after deputies investigated child sex abuse allegations between 2011 and 2015.

After his July trial, civil rights attorney Ben Crump and Attorney General Jeff Landry released statements saying justice was served after Mack was found guilty by a jury.
