WATSON, La. (BRPROUD) — The Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating a child’s drowning in Watson.

The sheriff’s office said deputies responded to a call on Meadow Lane about a missing four-year-old boy Thursday morning.

Sheriff Jason Ard said family, friends, and neighbors in the Oak Hills subdivision helped look for the missing child.

The child was found unresponsive in a neighbor’s pool near his home, the sheriff’s office said. The boy was taken to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

“Simply, a tragic accident. Our thoughts and prayers are with this family,” said Ard.

The sheriff’s office does not suspect foul play at this time. This is an ongoing investigation.
