BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Denham Springs Cpl. Shawn Kelly was remembered by loved ones and law enforcement officers in a funeral service on Thursday morning at Healing Place Church.
Visitation was from 9:30-11:30 a.m. and the service began at 11:30 a.m. at the church on Highland Road. An invitation was extended to the public to attend the visitation, service and burial.
The procession followed from Healing Place Church on Highland Road to Denham Springs Memorial Cemetery on North Range Avenue near Denham Springs High School.

Kelly, 53, died in the hospital weeks after being shot while responding to a disturbance near a shopping center along South Range Avenue in Denham Springs on Thursday, May 11.
An obituary from Seale Funeral Service said Kelly died on June 2 at 4:12 p.m. and is survived by his wife Megan and four children.
“He loved spending time with family, cooking, camping and tinkering with things. His happy place was his camper and traveling to new places,” the obituary read.
In a statement, Denham Springs Police Department Chief Rodney Walker described Kelly as “a great public servant, a great father, grandfather, husband and just a great human being. He was one of the finest men I’ve ever known.”
