WALKER, La. (BRPROUD) — A local restaurant in Walker will be featured on America’s Best Restaurants (ABR).
America’s Best Restaurants will be featuring some of Bubba’s Grill and Catering’s popular dishes, along with an interview with the owner of the restaurant, Leila Strickland. According to a news release from America’s Best Restaurants, Strickland has been the owner of Bubba’s for over four years.
“We are a mom and pop,” Strickland said. “During COVID, we didn’t take any government money, we kept all our employees, we stayed open. Barely making it, but we made it.”
According to a release from America’s Best Restaurants, Strickland started the business with her twin daughters, but there was a slight issue that was presented.
“They couldn’t cook,” Strickland said. “They just flat couldn’t cook.”
Along with being a restaurant owner, Strickland is a military wife and mother. She was given the Military Order of the Purple Heart Special Recognition Award for the continuous support of wounded combat veterans.
The restaurant features a menu that includes several options of Louisiana favorites, po’boys, seafood platters, burgers, salads, steaks, and appetizers.
According to America’s Best Restaurants, the filming of the episode will be taking place at Bubba’s, 31755 Walker Road N., from 2-5 p.m. on Nov. 29.
America’s Best Restaurants said the episode will be aired on social media channels that will be announced at a later date.
