BATON ROUGE, La (BRPROUD) – Louisiana Art and Science Museum is exploring the work of Louisiana artists from the 19th Century through today with an exhibition called “Our Louisiana”.

“In my time at LASM I have developed a great fondness for many of the works on view in ‘Our Louisiana’ and it is a joy to share them with the public, where they can be appreciated to the fullest,” Curator Lexi Adams says.

The installation will open to the public on Saturday, Jan. 15. The exhibit is organized in seven different categories: 19th-century art, modern art, contemporary art, folk art, self-taught art, craft art, and Baton Rouge Art. “Our Louisiana” illustrates the transformation of Louisiana art through the museum’s permanent collection.

“LASM has been a collecting institution since its founding in 1962,” President and Executive Director Serena Pandos said. “The growth of the collection has been guided by the dedicated service of members of the Board of Trustees, Advisory Council, the Collections and Programs Committee, and the tireless efforts of the staff.”

“I have the distinct privilege of working closely with all of the objects in the LASM’s collection,” Adams says. “In my time at LASM I have developed a great fondness for many of the works on view in ‘Our Louisiana’ and it is a joy to share them with the public, where they can be appreciated to the fullest.”
