BATON ROUGE, La (BRPROUD) – Two local companies partnered with the Houston Astros baseball team to deliver hurricane relief supplies to the southeastern parishes of Louisiana that were impacted by Hurricane Ida.

The law enforcement of St. John the Baptist Parish were some of many to receive supplies including water, food, toiletries etc.

St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office posted to Facebook on Thursday that the office thanks the Kelly Gibson Foundation and Eatel for partnering with the Houston Astros to deliver supplies for law enforcement following Hurricane Ida.

“We’ve learned from Hurricane Katrina that it’s important to act fast,” says Kelly Gibson, chairman of the Kelly Gibson Foundation said in a press release. “Getting needed supplies is a challenge in many impacted areas.”

Truckloads of food, water, diapers, toiletries, cleaning supplies and more have been transported from Houston to Lafourche and further to help those in need.

‘We’ve delivered supplies to critical infrastructure workers and have more efforts underway to help people and communities in the coming days, weeks and months,” Gibson said.
