BATON ROUGE, La (BRPROUD) – The local man that brought us Millennial Park is partnering up with other entrepreneurs to bring a new hangout to Baton Rouge. The Block will be filled with food, drinks, and entertainment.
Baton Rouge native and CEO of Millenium Park/Jive Turkey, Cam Jackson, is investing in his community once again.
“To be able to do this in Baton Rouge, the city I was born in, and to come back and have such an impact on the city, it’s just, it’s amazing,” Jackson said.
The team consisting of CEO/Managing Partner Brad Gordon and Anthony Kimble of Kimble Properties, plan to turn the lot at Government and 14th Street, into a place where people can come together to eat, drink and enjoy live entertainment.
“I can just remember my grandmother just telling me all types of things about old South Baton Rouge,” Gordon said. “The pride that people [who] are lifelong members of South Baton Rouge have in the area and in the community and to be an added value to that it really just to build something that this community can feel it’s their own.”
This project will be similar to Jackson’s Millennial Park, using shipping containers but with a little twist.
“I would say the only similar true thing will be the containers but everything is going to be different,” Jackson explained. “We will have a lot more space, more eating space, entertainment space; it will be a huge bar that will be very exciting, I will be very excited about it.”
Gordon said he’s excited to start the project not only for himself but for the community.
“I’m super duper excited but I’m super excited mainly about the added value that this development will bring to this community as well as helping our city and parish expand,” Gordon said.
