Local fire department reminding residents to check for airbag recalls after responding to vehicle fire

Pointe Coupee Fire District 4

LIVONIA, La. (BRPROUD) – A two-vehicle accident took place on Tuesday, December 7 in Pointe Coupee Parish.

Pointe Coupee Fire District 4 was called to the accident and “were told one of the vehicles was on fire.”

Firefighters arrived on scene and determined that there were no injuries.

A vehicle was on fire and firefighters immediately went to work putting it out.

According to Pointe Coupee Fire District 4, “After extinguishing and investigation it appeared that after the airbags deployed, the mechanism that deploys the airbags caught fire and burned the driver’s seat and part of the B post.”

Whether it had to do with this fire or not, Pointe Coupee Fire District 4,is asking residents keep an eye on airbag recalls for their vehicles.
