BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – The Baton Rouge Fire Department responded to 224 Howard St. on Monday afternoon.

Firefighters arrived a little after 5:30 p.m. and found “the front room and the attic of the home on fire.”

The Baton Rouge Fire Department went to work and the fire was put out in around 15 minutes.

BRFD says firefighters “were able to stop the fire in those areas and keep it from spreading to the neighboring homes.”

The home is considered a ‘total loss’ after sustaining $50,000 in damages.

EMS, BRPD and Entergy assisted the Baton Rouge Fire Department at the scene.

Fire investigators are still working to determine what started the fire.
