Local organizations participate in ‘Giving Tuesday’ to help benefit services

Local News

After the shopping frenzy of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, a global initiative is in its 7th year of encouraging folks to give.

Giving Tuesday is a global generosity movement to transform their communities and the world on December 3, 2019 and every day.

It was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good.

In 2018 more than $3.5 million gifts and $400 million were raised.

McCain Children’s Developmental Center is one of the local organizations participating in the initiative.

They’ve been around for 65 years and offer occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech & language therapy plus more and say the money they get really helps keep things going.

“You know it’s nice having that day when it’s almost at the end of the year and we’re all in our annual funds trying to make ends meet and do as much as we can for the kids. For us, it’s for kids in our community, so it really just gives us that little push to close out the year,” says Executive Director Anne Hindrichs.

McMains goal is to raise $20,000 to go towards programs and amenities at the center.
