BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – Sacred Heart of Jesus School is highlighting their Students of the Year.

Student of the Year in 5th Grade is Sophia Freese and Student of the Year in 8th Grade is Dorothy Raymond.

Sacred Heart is providing a little bit of information about these exceptional students.

“Sophia is described by peers and teachers as smart, kind, and a great leader. She is hard working, is always willing to help others, and is known as an honest and loyal friend.”

“Dorothy Raymond is described as someone who always gives 100% effort and is a quiet leader. Teachers describe this student as kind, responsible, well organized, and always willing to assist others when they need it.”

So how were the two students chosen for this honor?

Sacred Heart bases their decision on these attributes:

  • Academic excellence
  • Meet the qualifications of a superior GPA, standardized test scores, and strong writing
  • Impressive leadership abilities
  • Dedication to service and citizenship.

According to the school, “Students are elected by their peers, teachers, and administration.”

Freese and Raymond are going to represent Sacred Heart in the Diocesan competition.
