BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – Domestic violence survivors and advocates want the community to show more support for women in crisis.
Today, they are starting the “End of Silence” campaign in Baton Rouge.
They are trying to engage the community to talk about the rising cases and how victims can get help. Advocates say domestic violence is not just physical abuse.
“It’s so much more. The controlling behavior, the extreme jealousy, the insults, the put-downs, the isolation from your friends and family is a huge component and intentionally driving a wedge between you and your support system” said Mariah Wineski, Executive Director Louisiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence
The 24-hour crisis hotline number for help is 1-800-541-9706.
