BATON ROUGE, La (BRPROUD)- Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser released a statement on the New Orleans Saints relocating to Jacksonville, Fla. for the season opener against the Green Bay Packers.

Here is the statement:

“I want to thank the New Orleans Saints for their continued communication with city and state leaders and for making the tough decision to relocate their first home game to Jacksonville.

“Clearly, that is not the team’s first option as they prefer to play in front of all of their fans – the WHO DAT Nation. However, they are doing the right thing since accommodations and resources are severely limited as a result of Hurricane Ida. Everyone is putting their best efforts forward as we work to recover and restore the devastated areas of our beloved state.

“We wish the Saints safe travels and a victory on September 12, 2021 against the Green Bay Packers. We also want to thank the city of Jacksonville for opening its doors to us as our home away from home during this difficult time.”
