BAYOU L’OURSE, La (BRPROUD)- The Assumption Parish Sheriff’s arrested 46-year-old Shan Michael Perera for felony drug charges after a traffic stop on Mar. 3 near Bayou L’Ourse.
Narcotics agents stopped the vehicle and an initiated an investigation. Agents made contact with Perera and then requested the presence of a K-9 unit to the scene. The K-9 conducted an open-air sniff of the vehicle and alerted the presence of illegal narcotics.
A subsequent search of the vehicle and a pat down search discovered quantities of meth-amphetamine, assorted drug paraphernalia and a quantity of U.S. currency.
Perera was arrested and booked into the Assumption Parish Detention Center on the charges of:
- Possession of Meth-Amphetamine with Intent to Distribute
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (2nd Offense)
- Illegal Window Tint
- Driving on Roadway Laned for Traffic
His bond hearing is pending at this time.
