Louisiana State Police reminds public of the risks of vehicle heatstroke as temperatures rise

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – Louisiana State Police (LSP) took to Facebook to warn the public of vehicle heatstrokes summer temperatures begins to soar.

In the post, LSP cited vehicle heatstroke as one of the leading causes of traffic-related death for children in the country.

LSP urges parents and caregivers to prevent a child heatstroke with the following tips:

  • Make it a habit to look in the back seat every time you exit the car
  • Never leave a child in a vehicle unattended
  • Always lock the car and put the keys out of reach
