DONALDSONVILLE, La (BRPROUD) – Louisiana State Police (LSP) are investigating a fatal hit and run accident that killed a Pierre Part man.

Troopers were called out La Hwy 1 near Fontana Road in Ascension Parish around 5 p.m. on Saturday. Through an investigation, Troopers learned that 31-year-old Cameron James Thibodeaux was traveling southbound on LA Hwy 1 on a 2009 Yamaha YZF-R6 motorcycle. At the same time, an unknown vehicle was beginning to make a left turn onto LA Hwy 1 from a private driveway when the vehicle turned directly in front of Thibodeaux’s motorcycle.

Thibodeaux ran off the road and hit a barrier. LSP said that the suspect stopped for a moment before driving off.

Thibodeaux was wearing an approved DOT helmet but his injuries from the crash were serious. He was transported to a nearby hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Troopers believe that the unidentified vehicle may be a green four-door sedan with a possible primer-type paint on the hood and the trunk area. Photo courtesy of LSP.
