NAPOLEONVILLE, La. (BRPROUD) — A Napoleonville head start teacher named Janie Clement was recently chosen as a semifinalist for the Early Childhood Teacher of the Year award.

Clement is an educator at Napoleonville Primary School and the Assumption Parish teacher along with four other teachers in Louisiana were nominated for this award.

All five teachers will be recognized at the 16th annual Excellent Educators Awards Gala this summer.

Assumption Parish School Superintendent John Barthelemy says, “To be recognized among the state’s top Early Childhood Teachers is quite an honor for Ms. Clement and our Early Childhood Program. The recognition speaks to her ability to impact student achievement during early development.”

Clement has taught for over 14 years in Assumption Parish.

The Napoleonville head start teacher says her passion and dedication for developing young children inspired her to continue her education.

“I facilitate the growth of children in not only the area of cognitive, but also in the areas of social emotional and physical development. This allows me to make deep connections with all the children in my classroom,” Clement says.

The Louisiana Department of Education and Dream Teachers are working together on this endeavor.

“We can always count on Janie to help our program, staff, students, and families. She is extremely knowledgeable of all aspects of the Head Start Program and very generous with her time to support others. Her caring attitude and superior knowledge of the curriculum makes Janie truly stand out as an outstanding teacher. She is well deserving of this honor,” Assumption Parish Preschool Coordinator Rachel Dugas said.
