LPSO deputies find French Settlement man dead on roadway

Local News

An investigation is underway after deputies from the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office found a dead man  after being called to the 18,000 block of Bull Run Rd.

The victim in this case has been identified as 36-year-old Jesse Hebert, of French Settlement.

Deputies were called to the scene after someone alerted authorities around 1 a.m. on January 20 that a body appeared to be on the side of the road.

Upon arrival a white man was found and Sheriff Jason Ard says, ‘The deceased male was located along this rural stretch of roadway in Livingston Parish with trauma to the head area.  Foul play is suspected.  Evidence collected at the scene led detectives to Mitchell Rd in French Settlement.  There, detectives located a vehicle believed to be connected this case.  That truck had been set on fire.  Through investigation, and working with the LSP Crime Lab, detectives were able to identify the victim as Jesse Hebert.  Uniform Patrol deputies and detectives are continuing to follow the evidence in this case.  At this point in the investigation, we do not believe this to be a random act of violence.’

The investigation into this case remains open and an autopsy is forthcoming.
