EAST FELICIANA PARISH, La. (BRPROUD) – Louisiana State Police say they’re still interviewing the people involved in a shooting involving a deputy with the East Feliciana Parish Sheriff’s office.
According to State Police, it was 7:30 p.m. on Saturday night, when an East Feliciana Sheriff’s deputy initiated a traffic stop with the driver of a Honda Accord.
The driver’s attorney, Ron Haley, later identified her as Jolisa Perkins.
Perkins allegedly hit the deputy with her Honda, injuring him and LSP says he responded by shooting Perkins.
Both Perkins and the deputy reportedly sustained minor to moderate injuries.
As of Monday, LSP continues to investigate the incident. The agency’s detectives are in the process of interviewing witnesses and other individuals involved in the event.
Investigators are also combing through all associated evidence, which includes video footage.
In time, LSP may coordinate with the Sheriff’s Office and District Attorney’s Office to release additional information.
