LSP: Two die in separate crashes within one hour

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – Two people died in separate crashes on Friday, April 23.

One in Iberville Parish and the other in Ascension Parish.

29-year-old Shandrieka Taylor of Plaquemine died in the first crash which took place around 1:30 p.m.

According to the Louisiana State Police, “the initial investigation revealed the crash occurred as Taylor was traveling northbound on LA Hwy 405 in a 2006 Honda Civic.”

At some point, the Civic veered off the road and hit a culvurt.

Taylor was not wearing a seat belt and died at the scene.

The second deadly crash took place in Gonzales around 2:30 p.m.

42-year-old Raymond Dugas Jr. of Springfield died in this crash which took place on LA Hwy 621.

Dugas Jr. was driving a 2018 Jeep Compass westbound when it “exited the left side of the roadway and struck a building,” according to the Louisiana State Police.

Despite wearing a seat belt, Dugas Jr. died at the crash scene.

Toxicology results are forthcoming for both Taylor and Dugas Jr.
