LSU expected to break records at Friday’s commencement ceremony

Local News

LSU’s 300th commencement ceremony will be held Friday, and several records are expected to be shattered by this semester’s graduating class.

The ceremony will recognize more than 400 potential honor graduates for their high GPAs, and four students are expected to earn College Honors from LSU’s Roger Hadfield Ogden Honors College, according to LSU Media Relations Director Ernie Ballard.

Eight graduates will receive the LSU Distinguished Communicator Award, an honor they earned in part by receiving high grades in communication-intensive courses.

Four graduates will receive the Engaged Citizens Distinction for their roles in engaging with their communities and addressing critical community issues.

Graduates who participated in LSU’s ROTC program will be commissioned at a separate ceremony Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Dalton J. Woods Auditorium.
