LSU is the highest ranking public university in the state according to the 2019 Wall Street Journal/Times Higher Education College Rankings.
LSU said the Tigers went up 91 spots in the rankings and finished “85th among public universities nationwide.”
LSU provided a breakdown of where LSU ranks in various 2019 Wall Street Journal/Times Higher Education College Ranking categories:
- 352nd overall (public universities)
- 7th (SEC)
- 32nd (among flagship universities nationwide)
“The focus has shifted in college rankings to those that place an emphasis on criteria such as outcomes, which are what truly matters to students and their families,” Alexander said. “Almost half of Wall Street Journal/Times Higher Education College Rankings is focused on outcomes such as mid-career earnings and debt load. These are areas where LSU’s graduates have performed well, and we are pleased to see that these rankings are working toward more and more effective ways of recognizing the public good delivered by exceptional public universities like LSU.”
The Wall Street Journal/Times Higher Education College Rankings were compiled using 15 key indicators according to LSU.
Colleges were assessed in these four areas and weighted by the corresponding percentages:
- Outcomes (40%)
- Resources (30%)
- Engagement (20%)
- Environment (10%)
