BRUSLY, La. (BRPROUD) – After heavy rainfall inundated West Baton Rouge and surrounding areas Sunday, officials announced that one Brusly area elementary school will remain closed through Monday.

According to West Baton Rouge Schools, students are not to attend classes at Lukeville Elementary School Monday, Jan. 30.

But it won’t be a day off for everyone.

Officials say teachers and staff must report to work as usual on Monday. All other West Baton Rouge Parish schools will be open to students, faculty, and staff on Monday.

After reaching out to West Baton Rouge officials to confirm that Lukeville Elementary’s closure is weather-related, BRProud awaits a response.

Lukeville’s students have been instructed to return to class Tuesday, Jan. 31.
