BAKER, La. (BRPROUD) ––– Drivers met with representatives from the managing company, Via, early Tuesday morning to prepare for their first LYNX passengers in the newest transportation venture from the Capital Area Transit System (CATS).
The app-based ride-hailing service is set to compete with some of the more popular ridesharing brands, and one area where it may have the upper hand is cost.
The pricing model for LYNX is fairly simple, a single ride costs $1.75, and you can add additional passengers for just $0.35. Seniors (65+) ride for $0.35 per trip. High school and College students ride FREE with a valid school ID. To sweeten the deal and encourage more riders, all rides are free until July.
CATS hopes to expand the program if there is enough evidence of a demand for LYNX, which is currently in its pilot phase, serving only Baker and a few other key locations outside the city.
So far, they have five mini-vans, all wheelchair accessible and ready to go. All you have to do is download the app on iOS or Android or call (225) 267-9080.
