Magnolia Woods Elementary switches to remote learning following positive COVID-19 cases

BATON ROUGE, La (BRPROUD) – East Baton Rouge Parish School System has transitioned Magnolia Woods Elementary to remote learning after being notified of several positive COVID-19 cases.

“Out of an abundance of caution, the district has made the difficult decision to transition the students at Magnolia Woods Elementary to remote learning effective January 6, 2022,” an official press release says.

Students will return to face-to-face learning on Tuesday, Jan. 11.

The impacted classrooms will be closed off for deep cleaning and students will receive instruction through Google Classroom. The school system will continue to follow proven mitigation efforts. This includes masks, deep cleaning and sanitizing of rooms, frequent handwashing, employee and staff testing and other proven efforts. 

“The health and safety of our staff and students always come first and we do not make these decisions lightly, our thoughts are with those impacted and we encourage all staff and students to do their part in mitigating the spread of Covid-19,” School Superintendent Sito Narcisse says.
