BATON ROUGE, La. (LOCAL 33) (FOX 44) – The owners of Magpie Cafe are closing one of its locations.
A post on Facebook shows Magpie Cafe’s downtown location is closing on Friday.
The post continues, “We are so grateful to the community for the support it has shown us since we opened the downtown cafe doors almost 3 years ago.”
Magpie Overpass and Pointe Marie will continue with no changes.
Davis Rhorer, Executive Director of the Downtown Development District, released a statement, “Although we are sad to see Magpie Café discontinue a downtown location, we understand their personal reasons for doing so and wish them well. This announcement represents a natural evolution of commercial use and activity. As the diversity of Third Street was intentionally designed with hotels, residential developments, arts & entertainment venues, and restaurants; we are confident that the space will be occupied soon with yet another reason to visit downtown. “
TJ Larocci, Managing Principal & CEO of Key Real Estate Company, released a statement, “For the past 4 years, James and Lina Jacobs and the Magpie Cafe Downtown team brought craft coffee, creative cocktails, and fresh food to residents of The Commerce Building and the people of Downtown Baton Rouge. As the Jacobs prepare the next step for Magpie Cafe, The Commerce Building will be announcing plans for a new and exciting venture in this space that will also incorporate the rooftop commercial space as we continue to invest in the vibrant downtown community. “
