BATON ROUGE, La (BRPROUD) — Baton Rouge Police Department responded to Our Lady of the Lake Hospital regarding a domestic shooting incident on June 24.
According to arrest documents, the victim said she was in the parking lot of her job when 30-year-old Trenton Bickham approached her vehicle. Bickham got into her car through the passenger door and the victim immediately got out of the car, attempting to runaway.
Bickham allegedly approached the victim with a handgun and his arm around her neck, threatening to kill her and forced her back into the car.
Bickham drove recklessly while applying pressure to her neck causing her to gasp for air.
The victim began fighting with Bickham as he merged onto I-10 east until she was able to unlock the car door. She jumped out of the moving vehicle and Bickham fired a single gunshot at her.
Bickham parked the car alongside of the ramp and dragged the victim back to the vehicle by her hair. When Bickham heard sirens coming in their direction, he set the victim free, took her car, and fled the scene.
Officials say the victim was disoriented and unable to fight Bickham back for her car.
According to the arrest documents, the victim had several scratches and bruises on her neck, shoulders, upper back and arms. She sustained severely scraped and bloody feet.
Bickham was arrested and booked for one count of attempt first degree murder, one count of second degree kidnapping, one count of illegal use of a weapon or dangerous instrumentalities, one count of battery of a dating partner with strangulation, and one count of carjacking.
