BATON ROUGE, La. (LOCAL 33) (FOX 44) — Police claim they caught a New Orleans man selling fake tickets to Saturday’s LSU vs. Florida football game.
Steven Green, 50, was arrested and charged with theft and illegal use of a counterfeit trademark.
Police received their tip after someone bought tickets from Green and tried entering Gate 7 of Tiger Stadium. The gate attendant told the customer the tickets — sold for $300 — were fraudulent and illegally featured the logos of the SEC universities, according to a probable cause affidavit.
The incident report claims the officer found Green trying to sell two additional tickets. The officer then approached Green, as if interested in buying the tickets, and saw they were fake.
The LSU Ticket Office had also confirmed the tickets were falsely produced.
Green told the officer he did not know the tickets were fraudulent.
