BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) – A man is facing one count of unlawful disposal of remains after moving a dead body from his apartment to another location.
On Saturday, Aug. 21, the Baton Rouge Police Department was dispatched to Florida Boulevard after the body of a dead woman was found in the front seat of a 2019 Lexus, according to an affidavit.
Through surveillance video, police identified the suspect as 41-year-old Royayers Jackson. The affidavit stated that Jackson found the victim dead in his Bracewell Drive apartment before moving her body. He was seen parking the victim’s vehicle where it was later found and walked away.
Authorities said he returned to the vehicle to clean DNA evidence and fingerprints from the inside and outside of the vehicle’s door.
The affidavit said the coroner’s office reported that the victim tested positive for fentanyl, amphetamines, methamphetamines THC and opioids.
Jackson faces one count of obstruction of justice and one count of unlawful disposal of remains.
