Editor’s Note: The Baton Rouge Fire Department issued a correction Wednesday morning at 10:09 a.m. saying the suspect is charged with one count of aggravated arson, not 50 counts.

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — A man accused of setting fire to his ex-girlfriend’s apartment on Halloween was arrested Tuesday.

The Baton Rouge Fire Department said Ihab Mohamed Mustafa, 40, was arrested on one count each of aggravated arson, simple burglary, aggravated criminal damage to property, and terrorizing.

Fire investigators responded to Lake Tower Apartments on Monday, Oct. 31 where they determined that the fire was intentionally set. The department said the fire resulted in $4,000 in damage and 50 residents woke to the blaze. According to the BRFD, a fire alarm was disabled.

The fire department said investigators were told that Mustafa’s ex-girlfriend had received harassing messages.
